A lot has changed since then and while I’ve been trying to sift out things that are no longer relevant there might still be some things hiding in there that are no longer useful. Also, the majority of tips was compiled around v.1.21 of the game. I play mostly on Voyager and Stalker because that’s what I enjoy most, and this guide is written from those perspectives, so not all tips will be relevant to those of you playing on either Pilgrim or Interloper. It's just how I chose to play though, I'm not in it for the leaderboards.Disclaimer! I’m not one of those hardcore ultimate challenge-types of players that will only accept Interloper as the true mode of playing The Long Dark. I don't like the idea that 800cal can carry me for 4 days, then eat anything to end starvation, and rest a bit more to go from 20% to 100% like nothing, because I know in real life, I'd be too weak to hump around with a 15kg pack minimum (given say 10days of 'hibernating'. I'm transitioning to CH from ML so I'm not using snares (though I should set some in the ravine to supplement meat) Still, with limits on rounds/bandages, I don't see getting that high in days without hibernating to extend my food stores.

I usually do the same, gather wood, boil water reserves, but as I don't have the bow yet, my limiting factor is rounds and bandages when going to get deer wolf combos. at one point i made 400l of water lol, why? mostly because i could. Originally posted by davescoolshades:thing is i dont really hibernate alot, there is always wood to chop water to make, hunting, exploring, making trips to areas to get stuff left behind, ect, i do hibernate when chores are done but if you look you can find stuff to do besides sleep.
